At Water Level
A quiet study of wetland birds, seen from the narrow space where water, weather and animal life meet.
View projectI was born in 1978 in Wrocław, Poland, where I still live today. Photography has been part of my life since my teenage years, but it wasn't until 2016 that I began photographing wildlife.
I take most of my photographs in and around Wrocław, particularly in two places that are very special to me: the Bystrzyca Valley and the Barycz Valley. This is where I spend most of my time observing and photographing wildlife, especially birds. Skylarks, waders and reedbed birds are among my favourites, and their behaviour and incredible diversity never cease to fascinate me.
Authenticity is what matters most to me in wildlife photography. I try to show nature as it really is, without interfering with its natural rhythm or staging situations for the sake of a photograph.
At the same time, I enjoy experimenting with images, light and movement. I'm not always interested in creating a purely documentary record of what I see. Often, what matters more to me is capturing the atmosphere of a moment, the emotions and my own way of seeing the world. I look for images that not only show what I saw, but also convey what I felt at that moment.
